FITCHBURG, Massachusetts — A tragic motorcycle accident over the weekend has claimed the life of a 44-year-old Fitchburg resident, leaving the community in mourning.
According to the Fitchburg Police Department, emergency crews responded at approximately 3:29 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Ashby State Road. Upon arrival, first responders found the injured motorcyclist and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital.
Despite medical efforts, the man was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Authorities confirmed that a car was also involved in the crash. However, officials have not released the identity of the deceased, as fatal crash investigations fall under the jurisdiction of the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Fitchburg Police Department in collaboration with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Crash Reconstruction Team. Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the collision.
